Aziz Zafar
Aziz Zafar is a Ph.D. student in the lab of Dr. Yufeng Shen. Aziz is broadly interested in the applications of machine learning, statistics, and graph theory on multi-omics data. Aziz completed his BA in Biology and Applied Mathematics from Colgate University in 2023. During his time, he worked under computational biologists such as Dr. Ahmet Ay and Dr. Quaid Morris, developing machine learning models for predicting mood disorders, infectious parasites, and rare tumor types.
In the Shen Lab, Aziz is currently working on predicting the effects of missense variants on protein function using protein molecular dynamics and biophysics-informed machine learning.
