Titles

Postdoctoral researcher

Maria del Mar Alvarez-Torres is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Rabadan Lab, Program of Mathematical Genomics, specializing in computational biology with a focus on integrative cancer research. Currently, she is investigating the functional impact of germline variants in gliomas and acute myeloid leukemia with the ultimate purpose of estimating cancer risk. Her scientific interests encompass a dual focus, spanning from the fundamental exploration of complex tumor behavior at the molecular and cellular level to the clinical translation aimed at selecting optimal treatments for patients, particularly in the realm of immunotherapies. She is deeply intrigued by the integration of diverse biomedical data to enhance diagnosis and refine treatment selection.

Education History

She completed her undergraduate studies in Biology and earned a Master's degree in Biotechnology from the University of Granada. Subsequently, she obtained an international PhD in Health and Wellness Technologies from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, focusing her research on high-grade gliomas. Her doctoral work primarily centered on the comprehensive characterization, prognostic estimation, and evaluation of treatment response.
