Titles

Associate Research Scientist

Zizhang Sheng is an associated research scientist in the Honig-Shapiro labs. By taking the advantage of next-generation sequencing technique, he uses bioinformatics approaches to investigate features of B cell repertoires, and to study mechanisms modulating the maturation process of broadly HIV-1 neutralizing antibody lineages in humans and animal models, with the aim of finding an optimal HIV-1 vaccine design strategy. He also studies features and maturation process of auto-reactive B cells involved in autoimmune diseases. By using structural bioinformatics approaches, he is also studying functions of antibody somatic hypermutation and antibody affinity improvement.

Zizhang Sheng earned his PhD at Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Science. His PhD research was focused on functional evolution of protein domain superfamilies.
